UNIDAD of Miami Beach, Inc. Welcomes Mr. Arnold H. Maloney as Our New Miami Beach Career Center Director!
June 18, 2012Arnold joins UNIDAD of Miami Beach, Inc. as the Director of the Miami Beach Career Center, operating in partnership with the South Florida Workforce Regional Board. With close to 20 years experience in workforce development consultancy, project, talent and career management, grantsmanship, competency modeling, strategic planning, change process, and training and development, Arnold brings a wealth of experience in methodically directing community-based organizations and social services. He is a "champion" in implementing service-delivery of Best Practices to the Dislocated Worker, Adult (including Hard-to-Serve customers), and Youth Programs under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) while partnering with Wagner-Peyser, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Welfare Transitional Services. He is a National and Florida Certified Workforce Development Professional that has in-depth knowledge of state and federal workforce development performance measures, as well as, state guidance, memorandums and consultation papers as appropriate, including the American Disability Act.
Prior to joining UNIDAD of Miami Beach, Inc., Arnold managed the WIA Program at the Broward County Workforce Development Board South One Stop Center. In this role, he exceeded the required local, state, and federal performance measures by 15 % resulting into program expansion, and employment opportunities for a 200% increase in staffing. His accomplishments include the identification and development of a Combalicer Proper Consignment Business Model, WIA Services-Delivery Process to Training, and a WIA Strategic Plan of Action Matrix tailored to effectively operate the WIA Program. Arnold conducted the first in-depth study on how career coaches manage time in processing customers. The result of his studies set the precedent for corporate program decision-makers to formulate policies on improving service-delivery processes to WIA participants.
In Arnold´s earlier career, he held positions as a Lead Career Consultant, Assessment and Eligibility Specialist with South Florida Workforce Agency; a Crisis Counselor with FEMA and Miami-Dade County First Responder Team during Hurricanes Wilma and Katrina; a Certified War Trauma Counselor with UNICEF and the United Nations Observers Mission in Liberia (UNOMIL) through the Children Assistance Program (CAP) to provide demobilization, detraumatization, and rehabilitation services to war-affected children and families; Director of Student Affairs with R.C. Lawson Institute; Coordinator of the Sociology Department and English and Social Science Instructor at A.M.E. Zion University College; English Language Examiner with the West African Examination Council; and Socio-political Columnist with the First National Poll Newspaper.
Arnold holds a Master of Science degree in Education from Barry University in Miami, Florida, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Liberia, an affiliate of Cornell University at the time.
